Rita A. (Zelton) Wassenberg, 88, Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the home of her daughter Debbie.
She was born on January 17, 1926, to the late Henry & Henrietta Zelton.
Survivors include nine children, Janice (Alan) Neubauer, Tommy Wassenberg, Debbie Hockers, Steve (Maria) Wassenberg, Randy Wassenberg, Sharon Wassenberg, Barbara (Steve) Stefl, Susan Verheyen and Robert Wassenberg; grandchildren, Lisa (Don) DeGroot, Annie (Abe) Amente, Cathy Neubauer, Nick and Sarah Stefl, Matt, Adam and Josh Verheyen; great-grandchildren, Brayden & Landyn DeGroot and Marissa & Mason Verheyen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Wassenberg; brothers, Jimmy, Ray and Bobby Zelton; sisters, Marion Bielmeier and Charlotte Grebe.
Great Grandma Rita especially adored her great grandson Brayden. Together they shared a very special goodbye handshake ritual.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St., Green Bay on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00am with Rev. Phillip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
