Richard James Vandermoss

April 3, 1936 — May 6, 2022

Richard James Vandermoss, age 86, of Green Bay, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, with his loving family at his side. He was born April 3, 1936 in Town of Angelica, WI, son of the late Jeffrey and Esther (Schroeder) Vandermoss and was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of 1954.

After graduating from high school, Richard began working for Paul Mussilini on Broadway Street in Green Bay, as a mechanic. Richard married his high school sweetheart, Virginia "Ginny" Wickman, December 8, 1956 and they shared 65 years of marriage together. In the early 1960's, Richard and his brother, Harold, started their own business, Dick and Harold Sinclair on the corner of Ashland and Lombardi. Richard later purchased his brother's half and ran the business, Dick's Arco, until his retirement in 1986. After retirement, Dick and Ginny ran Van's Inn, Crandon, WI, on Lake Lucerne, for 5 years.

During their retired years, Dick and Ginny spent a few of their winters in Arizona. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling out West and to Canada for some of his adventures. He loved to cheer on the Brewers and the Packers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Richard is survived by his wife, Virginia "Ginny," 3 children: Cheryl (Merrill) Haynes, Steven (Allison Schroeder) Vandermoss and Daniel Vandermoss; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a son-in-law, Dale Miller. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Miller; a brother, Harold (Jackie) Vandermoss and his beloved canine companion, Cody.

Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (321 S. Madison St., Green Bay, WI), Friday, May 13, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 NOON. A memorial service will follow at 12 NOON, with Pastor Julie Wrubbel-Lange officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
