Richard Trainor

January 9, 1933 — October 2, 2016

Richard P. "Dick" Trainor, age 83, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 2, 2016 on the Feast of Guardian Angels in De Pere, WI. He was born January 9, 1933 in Madison, WI, son of the late Phillip and Mildred (Nedvidek-Seiler) Trainor.

Richard grew up with a fierce love of nature, resulting in his pursuit of a double major in Agronomy and Forestry at UW-Madison which was seasoned by his time spent as a Conservation Corp. member in northern Wisconsin, along with building a wooded sanctuary and cabin for family to gather at Sunday Lake in Minocqua, WI. He carries home with him his gifted Gaelic athleticism as a Golden Glove boxer at the UW-Madison as the "Fighting-est Fighter" for his last round here with his family. Texaco, Pennzoil, and the Green Bay Packers brought Richard to Green Bay, WI, where his 4 children were born.
Richard married Penelope "Penny" Galiano in 1980 in Lake Tahoe, NV, where they often visited throughout their marriage. Richard was a man of great strength in his work ethic, his Christian faith and his love for family.

He is survived by his wife, Penelope "Penny" (Galiano) Trainor and her 3 children: Colleen (Donald) Roznowski and their children, Frankie and Morgan Roznowski, Anthony A. Galiano and his children, Olive and Shyloh Galiano and Vicki Lea Lind and her children: Mitchell (Ali), Jordan and Claira Mae Lind, all of the Green Bay/Milwaukee area. Richard's is also survived by his former wife, Nancy Trainor and their 3 children: Michael Ott (Aleana Yiu) Trainor and their daughters, Miana and Aevia, of Los Altos, CA, Kathleen Ott (John) Schumacher and their sons, Paul Joseph and Michael James, of DePere, WI and Maureen Ott Trainor of Bellingham,WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter; aunts; uncles and cousins. Richard was also preceded in death by members of Penny's family, including his father-in-law, Teddy "Tudy" Galiano, who was the first to introduce Italian cuisine (pizza) to the Green Bay area and mother-in-law, Delores Mae (Wood) Galiano.

Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 4 to 6:45 PM. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM with Fr. Richard's family would like to extend a special thank you to staff at Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence, especially Sharon with Unity Hospice, for their loving care and support of Richard and his family. The family would also like to thank the 8th floor staff of Bellin Hospital and Fr. Jack McCarthy and Dcn. Luis of St. Willebrord Parish for kind support and prayers during this difficult time.
