Richard Allen Summers

Richard Allen Summers, age 71, of Hobart, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital, with his wife and family at his side. He was born August 18, 1951 in Green Bay, son of the late Alvin and Dorothy (Bain) Summers.

Dickie graduated from West De Pere High School, Class of 1969, where he earned the title "Athlete of the Year" his senior year. He was a gifted athlete in his youth, playing football, basketball and baseball. His love of sports carried on into his adulthood. After graduation, he continued his education at UW-Oshkosh. One of his favorite pastimes was golfing with his family and friends.

Richard married Kim Laubenstein, September 22, 1990 at St. Joseph Parish, Sturgeon Bay. The couple celebrated 32 years of marriage and adventures together. He was employed by Proctor & Gamble, where he worked until he retired.

Dick was a talented cribbage player and had enjoyed hunting with his dad in his younger years. Richard and Kim loved traveling together and grilling out. He took pride in his home and the gardens that he tended to with his wife. He loved listening to music and attending concerts.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kim; 3 sisters: Sandy Fitzgerald, Nancy (Jim Paape) Summers and Jan Van Den Heuvel; 7 sisters-in-law: Mary (Bill) Storck, Jayne Hewitt, Nancy (Patrick) Hammell, Carol (Will) Roder, Sue (Randy) Walters, Lynn (Randy) Modrow and Kathryn Thornburg and 2 brothers-in-law, Gary Janssen and Steve (Kate) Laubenstein. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Janssen; 4 brothers-in-law, Tom Fitzgerald, Wayne Jansen, Gary Laubenstein and Gary Hewitt and his father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Irene Laubenstein. Richard's youngest sister, Karen Jansen, passed away 6 hours after him.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held by his family at a later date.

Richard's love for life and family will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his loved ones.

Richard's family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
