Richard (Dick) C. Schefe, 68, of Green Bay, passed away on September 15, 2014, at home with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dick was born in Green Bay, WI on March 19, 1946 to the late Kenneth and Blache (Fuller) Schefe. He attended St. Pat's grade school and Premontre High School Graduating in 1964. He worked at Shade Business Forms in the shipping/receiving department until he became disabled and the plant shut down.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3955 and volunteered for numerous community events. Dick was known for the many lives he has touched and left a mark on through teaching Hunter Safety for 25 years in the De Pere area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computer puzzles, and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed his Wednesday morning breakfast with the deer hunting bunch at Nicolet Restaurant, razzing the waitresses.
Dick is survived by his two sisters, Jan Delemater of Baldwin, WI and Dorothy Pruden of Brookfield, WI; three children, Ken and Melissa Schefe, Kris Schefe and special friend Bret Wery of Green Bay, and Steve Schefe of De Pere; three grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, and Madelyn Schefe. He is also survived by his dogs, Tucker and Lily, and boat Indebt; as well as many others he parented along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Robert Delemater of Green Bay, WI and Jim Pruden of Milwaukee, WI; one niece Cheryl Keuler of Shawano, WI; one nephew Mark (Grog) Grognet of Baldwin, WI.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his friends John VanGheem, Greg Rottier, Herb Kocken, and Rosemary Manning for all the help given over the years as well as the numerous nurses of Bellin Hospital, Dr. Lynche and her staff, which cared for him and put up with his joking towards the end.
He would like to thank all the waitresses at Nicolet Restaurant on Wednesday mornings, his three children for the medical attention given to keep him at home, especially his daughter, Kris, for nursing him the last few years.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, September 19 , 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, *(Monroe Ave., is closed. Access to funeral home is available off Madison St., One Block West of Monroe Ave.,)* Visitation will continue Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 10:00am until 11:00 am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am.
