Richard P. Miller, age 66, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence, surrounded by his family. He was born December 16, 1950 in Eau Claire, WI, son of the late Leroy and Marie (Smatlak) Miller and was a graduate of Regis High School, Eau Claire.
Richard proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Richard married Deborah Hite and together they had 3 children. Rich worked as a police officer in the Eau Claire area before becoming a correctional officer, relocating his family to Waupun. Richard and his family moved to the Green Bay area in the mid 1980's where he was employed as a correctional officer for the Green Bay Reformatory. He recently retired from the reformatory.
Richard was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed tending to his rose bushes. He loved going to Red Cedar Lake every summer to spend time with his beloved family and friends. His family will fondly remember him as a hard working man with a unique sense of humor. Richard's family was his pride and joy. He was a proud dad and grandpa.
Richard is survived by his son, Matthew (Andrea) Miller and their children: Gabe, Mackenzie and Brooklyn; his daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Miller and their children: Jesse, Phoebe and Logan; 4 brothers: Don Miller, Paul Miller, Mike (Cherie) Miller and Dale (Kathy) Miller and 3 sisters: Marge (Mike) Halberg, Rita (Ray) Thomas and Audrey (Charles) Brovan. He is furthered survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by Deborah and their daughter, Laura and her husband, Jim.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER CREMATIONS, FUNERALS & RECEPTIONS (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 NOON. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON with full military honors. .
