Richard Longcore

February 3, 1956 — December 25, 2019

Richard "Rick" Longcore, 63, of Oneida, beloved husband of Darlene (Smith) Longcore, departed this life peacefully with his family at his side on Christmas morning, after a stubborn fight with cancer over the past year and half.

Rick was born in Kalamazoo, MI on February 3, 1956 son of the late Richard and Marilyn (Nelson) Longcore. He was a graduate of Vicksburg High School. In 1980 Rick moved to Green Bay with his two oldest sons. He met Darlene in 1986 and they were later married on March 29, 1994 in Las Vegas at the Little White Chapel; and this union brought the addition of two step-sons. He worked for Fort Howard Steel which later changed it's name to Wilcox Steel and retired in 2014. He was a member of the Boilmakers Union Local 177 and the Magneto's Motorcycle Club.

In spare time Rick enjoyed his motorcycles, classic cars, car shows, fishing, gardening, landscaping, grilling, and of course bonfires with his family. After many years of disappointment he finally abandoned the Detroit Lions and became a Packers fan, and he could finally enjoy watching football again.

He is survived by his wife Darlene, and two sons: Michael (Jenny) Longcore and Richard (Melissa) Longcore. Two step-sons: Zach Smith and Josh Easlick. Rick leaves many grandchildren, he spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, Kenton and Lorannen Smith and at Lorannen's request he would always make her pancakes.

About a month before his death Rick was baptized at Meadowbrook Church in Green Bay with Brother Kennedy Officiating. Although he was weak he walked into the font of his own power and this brought him great joy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3rd from 4 - 7 PM at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A brief prayer service will be held at 6 PM in the funeral home.

Rick's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Green Bay Oncology, Meadowbrook Church and Brother Kennedy. A special thank you to Unity Hospice especially his nurse Alyssa.
