Richard D. Fischett, age 74, died peacefully at home, with Ellen, or as he preferred to introduce her, "the love of his life," and his little fur baby, Buffy, Monday, March 8, 2021.
He is survived by an older sister, Joan (Bill) Muller and their son, Ross in St. Augustine, FL. He is further survived by 5 children including: Denise Jalbert, Leo (Teree) Bankowski and Dana Fischett along with 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren all living on the East Coast and Ellen's family in Wisconsin. He will be missed by numerous friends in Wisconsin and out East.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Dominick Fischett and his best friend, David Radder, whom we're hoping had a Bacardi and Coke waiting for him when he got to Heaven.
Rich was a mechanic by trade, but his passions could be seen in his side businesses, trailering horses (he was known as the "Horse Whisperer") cross-country for clients, working behind the scenes at horse shows and snow-plowing commercial properties with the second love of his life, his red Dodge Ram pick-up truck. Some of his most cherished memories came from selling merchandise, including remote-control toys, at his "Pop Pop Shop" at flea markets with his grandson, Vinnie, whom he always regarded as more of a son to him.
In 2006 he retired and moved to Green Bay full-time where he enjoyed time spent with Ellen, gardening, following Brewer, Packer and Badger sports and making jigsaw puzzles. Together they enjoyed card and game nights with friends and entertaining with Rich's legendary skills at the backyard grill and outdoor fireplace.
There will be a celebration of Rich's life at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (2771 Oakwood Dr., Green Bay), Friday, March 12, 2021 with a visitation from 9 to 11AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM with Fr. David Funk, celebrant. Facial covering will be required.
Ellen would like to thank everyone for all their support and prayers and her sisters and brother-in-law for helping with Rich's care when she couldn't be home. Rich's journey this last year has been eased with the professional and compassionate care he received from his staff at Unity Hospice with special thanks to Chris, Sheila, Alyssa and his favorite nurse, Jenna. We would also like to acknowledge the expert care he received at Prevea Clinic and St. Mary's Hospital through the years, especially his pulmonologist, Dr. Monroy-Chaves, for encouraging Rich to keep fighting through his disease. A donation will be made to Unity Hospice in Rich's memory.
