Richard E. "Dick" Matzke, 82, Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday, June 04, 2014. He was born on February 6, 1932, in Appleton, to the late Edward and Louise (Binon) Matzke. Dick proudly served his country in the Navy Reserves in the 1950's as a Naval Instructor and Navigator.
Upon his graduation from Central High School in 1950, Dick began his masonry apprenticeship. He worked many years in the construction industry as a journeyman bricklayer, mason foreman, and self-employed mason contractor. In his later years he worked as a Certified Building Inspector.
Dick was a member of multiple organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Howard/Suamico Optimist, and many others.
Survivors include his children, Jean Tsokatos, Jaye (David) Largent, Rick (Kristen) Matzke, and William (Lynn) Matzke; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Julie Sickler.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave. Green Bay, from 11:00am until 12:00pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the church on Monday at 12:00pm with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in honor of Dick's daughter, Julie.
