Richard A. Breuninger

September 22, 1937 — May 25, 2021

Richard Arsene Breuninger, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. He was born to the late Gertrude "Toots" (Renier) and Arsene Breuninger on September 22, 1937 in Green Bay, Wis.

In 1955, Richard joined the US Coast Guard and served his country until 1959. During his time in the military he served in the Arctic and Antarctic on the East Wind Ice Breaker, which was something he was extremely proud of. Richard joined his family business, Renier's Meat Market/Grocery Store, on the East side of Green Bay where he worked side by side with his mother and extended family. He later worked for Holsom Bread Company until his retirement. Richard married the love of his life, Betty Lou Krause, in June of 1959 and together they raised their three children. Richard loved to hunt, fish, and do wood carvings. He also enjoyed taking camping trips with his family. In his later years, he and Betty enjoyed traveling together with close friends. Richard was also an avid Milwaukee Brewer's fan.

Richard is survived by his children: Brenda (Dan) Bradley, Kevin Breuninger, and Holli (Bill) Kussow; six grandchildren: Lyndsey, Carlie, Kyle, Ben, Madelyn, and Makenna (Zach); four great grandchildren: Kael, Keira, Ilya, and Zoe; brother, Frank (Mary Ann); and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou; his parents and brothers: Oliver "Bill" and Arsene "Butch".

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Newcomer Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, WI) from 9 am to 11 am. A memorial service will take place at 11 am with full military honors to follow. Richard will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
Richard's family would invite all guests to wear their Brewer's apparel in his honor.

Richard's family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Lance and Molly, for the exceptional care and support they provided, as well as his granddaughter, Maddie, for helping to take care of her grandfather during this time. A special thank you to Fr. Bob Kabat and Ann Froelich of St. Matt's Parish, as well as all who called and visited Richard during his illness.
