With faith in the Resurrection of our Lord, we offer our prayers for Rev. Paul E. DuCharme, who entered eternal life on February 23, 2025 at the age of 97.
Father DuCharme was born, in Green Bay, WI, the only child of Erwin and Olive (Steinmetz). He is a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Green Bay (now Notre Dame Academy) and St. Norbert College, De Pere. From June 1945 through August 1946, Father DuCharme served in the United States Navy. He earned a degree in Philosophy and Theology at St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, MN.
On June 4, 1955, Father DuCharme was ordained by Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Father's first assignment was at St. Mary Parish, Oshkosh. In 1961, Father DuCharme was appointed Chaplain of Wisconsin State Reformatory, Green Bay. In 1986, he assisted at St. Patrick Parish, Stephensville while continuing as Chaplain of the Reformatory. In 1989, Father DuCharme was appointed Associate Pastor of St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Green Bay where he served until his retirement.
Father Paul DuCharme fully retired in 1998. In his retirement he continued to celebrate Mass at Bishop’s Court, Mason Manor, Badger Terrance, Villa West, and St. Agnes and Ss. Peter and Paul Family Prayer Nights. He continued to minister to the sick from the retirement home. He volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul and at St. Vincent and Bellin Hospitals, Green Bay.
A Memorial Mass will be offered in the chapel at McCormick Assisted Living, 212 Iroquois Ave, Green Bay, on Monday, March 3rd at 9:30AM, with Fr. Willard Vandeloo as homilist. Private burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to House of Hope or any charity of your choice in Fr. Paul's name are appreciated.
