Ray Kramer, 91, died Monday March 9, 2015, at Grancare Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Ray was born on August 28, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois. He married Marilyn Friedland November 4, 1946.
A professional musician, Ray spent a lifetime providing beautiful piano music. He entertained audiences in both Chicago and Green Bay with his unique style. In 1957, Ray moved his family to Green Bay, bringing with him the Big Band jazz sound that he developed while playing at the major downtown Chicago hotels. He appeared on WBAY TV, also playing with various local bands and later played solo piano at such places as Cheffettas and the Oneida Country Club.
Ray was devoted to his only grandchild, Hiromi, who once said, "I always knew he understood me." Ray was also appreciated for his sense of humor. On a serious side, Ray also participated in the Christian ministry as a member of one of the Green Bay Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses and had a strong hope in the Bible promise of a future paradise on earth as stated at Psalm 37:29.
He will be deeply missed by his family: wife, Marilyn, and daughters, Mary (Hirofumi) Matsumoto, Ramona (Alan) Wilber and grandson Hiromi (Robbie) Matsumoto.
Visitation will be held from 2PM to 4PM followed by a memorial service on Saturday March 14, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3065 W Mason St. Green Bay, WI.
Special thanks to Grancare Nursing Home and its staff.
