Raymond James Kopish passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2017. Ray was born on August 25, 1950 and grew up in Marinette, WI, where he would meet his wife and best friend, Judi.
He attended Marinette Catholic Central and UW-Madison and was an ardent Badger fan. He worked for 35 years in sales and marketing, 9 of which were at the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of Member Services. Most recently he was working at Seroogy's Chocolates, a job he loved with people he loved working with.
Most importantly, Ray Kopish was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather and friend. He was incredibly generous with his time, his love and his advice. Anyone who knew him was grateful for it.
Nothing was more important to him than his family and his friends. Whatever we were going through as individuals, we all went through it as a family. Through good and bad, he pulled us in close. He loved having us all together. Whether it was Sunday dinner or Washington Island, he was happiest when we were all around the table having a beer with him.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judi Kopish; his daughters, Katie (Pete) Zacarias and Meaghan Kopish (Matt Coughlin); his son, Ben Kopish (Sheena Oglesby); his grandchildren, Niko and Bella Zacarias and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kate; his father, Rudy; his father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Arloene Olson; brothers-in-law, Kenny and Jack and his brothers: Steve, Jack and Jim who we know are getting the cribbage board ready for him now.
Visitation will be held at RESURRECTION CATHOLIC PARISH (333 Hilltop Dr., Green Bay), Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with the Most Reverend Bishop Robert Morneau, celebrant. Private interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please do something special with your family. Have dinner together, go camping or take that vacation you've been putting off-that would make him very happy.
We will miss him. We are better for knowing him and are grateful for our new guardian angel.
