Raymond J. Micolichek, 75, Green Bay, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 21, 1939, in De Pere, to the late Charles & Mary (Polus) Micolichek.
Ray married Margaret Bayerl on October 10, 1959, at Holy Trinity Church in Birch Creek, MI.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 46 years. He had a strong work ethic and was proud that he never missed a day of work. Ray was a member of the construction crew that installed the water lines at Lambeau Field. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #139, and was honored for fifty years of membership.
Ray enjoyed all fishing including Brook Trout fishing in Dunbar, perch fishing on Larson's Reef on the bay, and was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. The one thing he enjoyed the most in his retirement was "junking". Ray's red Ford truck was well known around Green Bay for chasing after treasures.
Ray was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching races.
Survivors include his wife of almost 55 years Margaret; four children, Debra (Tom) Smith, Daniel Micolichek, Timothy Micolichek and Lisa (John) Mendoza; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Adam (Diana) Smith, Jacob Rentmeester, Erin (Micolichek) Wollard, Ashley Worachek, Kayla Worachek and Brandon Worachek; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah and Sarah Smith; siblings, Janice Micolichek, Nancy Pokorny, Ruth Pokorny, and Mary Jane Micolichek; sisters-in-law, Cecelia "Cookie" (Robert) Bretl, Menominee, MI, Mary (Milt) Whitmore, Arcadia, MI, and Theresa (Roy) Harris, Florida; brothers-in-law, Richard "Dick" (Mary) Bayerl, Northfield, MI, John (Jann) Bayerl, Ann Arbor, MI, and Andrew "Andy" (Cindy) Bayerl, MA; and his dear friend and fishing buddy, Gerald Renier.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel Nielsen, James Micolichek, Gerald Micolichek, Judy Wilson, Janet Poenisch, Rita Lepp, and Robert Micolichek; sister-in-law, Gwen Bayerl; niece, Sara Bretl.
A private celebration of Ray's life will be held with close family and friends at the time of interment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
