Raymond Robert Baldwin passed away peacefully at Meadowbrook in Oconto Falls July 23, 2023. He was born May 26, 1938 in Oconto to Lloyd William and Elsie Ruth (Vouti) Baldwin.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from November 1957 through November 1961 with the 4238th Transportation Squadron 5th district.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and listening to, but mostly singing to, older country music; his passion was fishing, nothing could keep him away from the breakwater, he once told us while fishing on the rocks at the breakwater a large yacht was passing by a little to fast and the waves knocked him down and he fell in the water, mind you he never knew how to swim. He was always the type that would fish in hazardous areas because he always said that's where the fish are. As years passed we told him that he needed to fish from the platform that was built especially for fishing. But he insisted that the platform was built for old people. He eventually gave in and fished from there. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially watching his grandsons play T-ball.
He is survived by sons: Kevin (Carolyn) Baldwin of North Carolina and Rodney Baldwin of Oconto; one daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Cardinal of Oconto, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters: Grace Wasley, Ruth Feifarek, Judy Lantow and Joan Peterson; one brother, Don Baldwin, also many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons: Timothy and Richard Baldwin, his life partner, Annette Stoner, sisters: Lois (Charlie) Hendry, Deloris (Joe) Brandle, and Jeanette Baldwin; brothers: Lloyd Jr. (Bridget) Baldwin, Bill (Ellen) Baldwin, brothers-in-law: George Peterson, Larry Lantow, Gene Schefffen, and Bernie Feifarek; sister-in-law Carol Baldwin, and great-granddaughter, Autumn Denny.
Friends and family may visit at The Gospel Chapel Church, 251 Michigan Ave, Oconto; on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors.
