Phyllis (Shallow) Smith

Phyllis Smith (93) of Green Bay passed away on December 24, 2021 at Tender Hearts Assisted Living in Howard. Phyllis Leona Shallow was born on June 3, 1928, in township of Little River, Wisconsin. She was second of 15 children of Oliver and Gladys (Brabant) Shallow Sr. of Lena.
Phyllis graduated from Lena high school in 1945. She was employed at the Lena branch of the Suring State bank, then transferred to the Suring Bank where she met Joseph P. Smith Jr. They married on August 25, 1951, at St Charles Catholic Church in Lena. They resided in Suring for more than 50 years where they raised their family and were active members of St. Michael's Catholic Church. They moved to Green Bay in 2002 and joined St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children Joseph (Joan) Smith III of Suring, Susan (Karen Ruhland) Smith of Tucson, Arizona, Terry Smith of Sturgeon Bay, Patti (Gene) Poradek of Oconto Falls, Gregory Smith of DePere, 6 Grandchildren, 2 step Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Phyllis is also survived by sisters Marie (Bill) Grady, Shirley (Richard) Gilles, and Gail Shallow, brothers Russell (Mary) Shallow, Wayne (Bonnie) Shallow, Gerald Shallow, sisters-in-law Margaret, Joyce, Eileen, and Mary Lynn Shallow, Sharon VonHaden, Jeanette Pagel and numerous relatives and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Joe (2007), brothers Oliver Jr, Chester, Vernon (Eloise), Roger, Richard, and Kenneth, sisters Carmen (Donald) Danks and Jean (Dale) Henrichs, infant son Paul, and granddaughter Jillian (Smith) Panske.

Special thank you to Tender Hearts Assisted Living, Howard and Heartland Hospice for the compassion and care shown towards Phyllis.
