Phyllis A. Kensmoe, age 85, of Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Woodside Lutheran Home. She was born July 26, 1936 in La Crosse, WI, daughter of the late George and Laura (Aiken) Marker and was a graduate of Logan High School, La Crosse, WI.
Phyllis married David Kensmoe, March 30, 1957 and they shared 58 years of marriage before David passed away in April of 2015.
Phyllis was a gifted cook and her passion was entertaining. She not only shared her talents in the kitchen with her friends and family, but was also well known for the soups she made at Fuzzy Thurston's restaurant in Green Bay. Phyllis and David were also active in the Galesville Curling Club where she was more famous for knitting curling sweaters than she was for her curling skills. She also enjoyed golfing, especially with her son, Donny. Phyllis was happiest when her home was full of friends and family.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Nancy, Donny (Jennifer) and Jeffrey (Kim) Kensmoe; 5 grandchildren: Jonah and Emily Kensmoe, Autumn Maker, Charlie and Cooper Kensmoe; 4 great-grandchildren: Ellie, Luca, Jordan, Sloan; 3 siblings: George Marker, Janice (Jerry) Brenegan and Dennis (Mary) Marker and a brother-in-law, Chuck Prise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; 2 sisters, Laura (Jack) Hendrickson and Carol Prise and a sister-in-law, Connie Marker.
Visitation will be held at Fort Howard Memorial Park (1350 Military Ave., Green Bay, WI), Monday, May 9, 2022 from 11:30 AM until 12 NOON. A funeral service will follow at 12 NOON.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Woodside Lutheran Home for their many years of loving care, as well as to her nurse practitioner Serena for her compassionate care.
