Phil Linzmeyer

Phil Linzmeyer, 71, loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend died unexpectedly of natural causes on January 4th, 2021. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on November 25th, 1949, he was the son of the late Sylvester "Bud" and Beatrice "Bea" Nier Linzmeyer. Phil graduated from Premontre HS in 1968 and attended UW-Madison.

In 1971, Phil met the love of his life, Patti Philbrick, who referred to him as a lovable geek in a trench coat and black glasses, usually accessorized with black tape. They were married on October 28th, 1972. Phil and Patti's home was always party central for the many out-of-town siblings, nieces, nephews and many miscellaneous kids. She predeceased him on July 21st, 2016.
Phil was an artist, an old soul - a gentle and peaceful man. While being a bit rambunctious in his younger years, Phil is remembered for his loving and welcoming way, his curiosity and his amiable nature. He is described as such a life loving and affirming individual. You could often find Phil in winter at Neshota Park with his little 3-legged stool, just reflecting on the beauty of nature. He loved Patti's family farm in Neshkoro, WI, spending much time there just puttering with things.
For about 40 years, Phil ran a much-respected home repair business; whose customers were incredibly loyal and like family. Children who remembered his work on their parent's homes became part of his second generation of customers. Oftentimes, a customer would tell how they so enjoyed Phil, the conversations that they had on a multitude of subjects. His customers trusted him with the keys to their houses, which he kept in a box at his house. Customers came to understand that Phil was not a morning person and he could end up working later in the day and into the evening.

Phil had a special relationship with young people. He adored his daughter and he also enjoyed her friends and neighbor kids. You could often find a neighbor kid helping Phil in his workshop, which was an incredibly interesting place.
Phil adored his grandchildren and was known to take them to the pet store and have them try out all the pet cages for size. He would travel frequently to Denmark to visit them and really learned to love the Danish culture.
Phil is survived by his daughter Loni (Kjartan Bergqvist) Sonderborg, Denmark and their children Eleanor, Finn and Vera. He is also survived by his siblings James (Bonnie), Mary Carroll, Peter (MaryLynn), Anne (Scott) Krueger, Clare Hanson, Jane, Paul (Jeannie), Tom (Mary Anne), Joe, Stella, and his furry friend Astor. He is preceded in death by wife Patti, brother John, brother-in-law Tom Carroll, sister-in-law Karen Linzmeyer and nephew Peter C. Linzmeyer.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Willebrord Parish, 209 S. Adams Street, Green Bay; from 9:00 am until 10:00 am with Mass following at 10:00 am. Social distancing will be practiced. You can also watch the service through St. Willebrord Parish Facebook livestream. There will also be a memorial service later this year, where Phil's memory will be celebrated in an appropriate manner and with much enthusiasm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Phil's name to the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve.
