Peggy D. Montez, 88, of Green Bay, walked on to the next part of her journey, to be reunited with those who have gone before her, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Peggy was born on April 4, 1928 in Vincennes, IN, daughter of the late Clarissa Bourne-Gundry. She retired after 30 years as a Laboratory Technician for Milwaukee County Hospital. Peggy was involved in many activities including the Red Hats, BINGO, playing cards, reading, puzzle solving, and traveling. She was an advocate for those needing her help. Peggy volunteered at Wise Women Gathering Place, the Indian Community School in Milwaukee, and the SEOTS in Milwaukee for many years. She was active in social justice matters working with both Senator Kohl and County Executive Scott Walker.
Peggy's memory lives on with her seven surviving children: Alice (Roy) Skenandore, Glenn (Leah) Hall, Joanne Hall, Katheryn Hall, Robin (Iqbal Mukadam) Hall, Gerald Montez, and Dale Montez. She also leaves behind 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren, along with a special friend Arlen Parkhurst. Peggy is preceded in death by her ex-husbands: Wilfred "Gus" Hall and Cipriano "Chip" Montez along with 2 sons: Roger and Gordon Hall, and 2 daughters: Lois Chicks and Edith Glaeser and grandsons: Gordon James and Jeremiah Sunrise Hall.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 5-6:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay, WI. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 6:30 PM.
