Paul Frederick Welles

November 30, 1936 — July 4, 2022

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Paul Frederick Welles on July 4th, 2022. Paul lost his battle with a brief illness while staying with his daughter, Carrie, in Memphis, TN.

Paul was born on November 30, 1936 to Albert and Anna (Kleimann) Welles. He grew up in Green Bay and attended Central High School.
Known for his positive attitude and unending sense of humor, even age and illness couldn't keep him down. An avid hunter and fisherman and lover of all things outdoors Paul found it easy to spend his time making the most of every breath. We are grateful to have learned so much from him and shared our time here on earth with such a joyful person.

As a young man, Paul was a proud member of the United States Air Force, having the opportunity to explore the country through various postings. Stories of his time stationed in Texas and the experiences he enjoyed always brought a smile to our faces. Paul also participated in the Boy Scouts from a young age, later becoming a Scout Leader along with his best friend, Richard Nejedlo. He took pride in being a positive force for teaching the young men he led to be the best people they could be.

Paul spent his working life at Northern Shoe Factory in Pulaski, WI moving to Green Bay Packaging in Green Bay, WI after Northern Shoe's closure.
Spending much of his spare time enjoying the outdoors, he could be found with Richard at his cottage in Athelstane, WI. He spent much of that free time fishing, deer hunting, berry picking and exploring Wisconsin's beautiful forests.
At home, Paul was an animal lover. His daughters knew he would easily be convinced to provide a home to any wayward pets simply by letting him hold a cute little kitten or adorable puppy. He also enjoyed taking rides through the Wisconsin countryside with his family, exploring new areas or visiting his beloved Door County.

Paul joins his wife, Jeannie Welles and Mother and Father, Ann and Albert Welles in death. He is survived by his sister Barbara Bridenhagen and family, daughters, Wendy Stammers (Paul) of Green Bay, WI and Carrie Thornton (Eric) of Memphis, TN as well as his beloved grandson, Damian Welles.
