Announcing in sadness and shock, Paul Michael Blanz, my husband, our dad, our father-in-law, our grandpa, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on March 28, 2018, at his condo in Naples, Fl.
Paul graduated from Preble High School in 1964 and spent his next three years in Europe with the United States Army. While in the service, he enjoyed touring many of the European countries and learned to speak French fluently. He also spoke German and learned Spanish in later years.
He married Susan Delwiche on April 12, 1969, and during their 48 years of marriage had two sons, Michael (Krissy), and Timothy (Ann) and five precious grandchildren, Jeffrey, Benjamin, Ella, Marina, and Leo. He serviced office machines in the Green Bay area working for Packerland Business Machines, Bay Business Machines, New Office Products, and Staples. Two of his most admired people were Stephen Hawking and Carl Sagan. He loved anything to do with science and space travel. Paul was also a historian of World War I and II (Susan would lovingly refer to Paul as her Uncle Elmer - family humor -). Paul was at his greatest performance when he was on the treadmill (traveling around the world in miles) riding his bike, telling stories, pulling your leg, and visiting his grandchildren.
Paul is also survived by brothers C. Dennis (Margie), Dennis C., Terry, Stephen, and Gary (Lois); sisters Dolores Miller and Jayne Irlbacher. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law James (Elaine) Delwiche, Kathy (Bill) Kornowski, Mary (Jerry) VanDuyse, Anne (Joe) Paluch and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his father Louis, mother Gertrude, stepmother Herta Blanz; also, by brother Jim, in-laws Bernard and Dolores Delwiche, sister-in-law Jane Jensen and brothers-in-law David Jensen, Richard Miller, and Ray Irlbacher.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive.
The family would like to thank all of the Florida friends for their support.
