Patricia J. Zipperer, 88, passed away on August 3, 2022. She was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on July 20, 1934 to Felix Anton Penn and Vina Violet (Hare) Penn, the second youngest of 7 children. She graduated from Ashland High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northland College.
Patricia married George Zipperer on May 11, 1957 and they spent 65 wonderful years together. She was a loving mother to David (Paula), June (Tim), Darren (Patrick), and Daniel (Viann) Zipperer; grandmother to Sam, Alex, and Samantha; and great-grandmother to Zeek and Willow.
Patricia supported her family by staying at home to raise her children, and later worked in the sewing and craft departments at various retail establishments once they graduated. Friends called her Pat and family called her Footsie.
For such a petite woman, she was incredibly strong with seemingly boundless energy and marvelous creativity, a gift she generously shared with others. For family and friends, she sewed curtains, altered dresses and pants, and created inspired contest-winning costumes. She made and donated more than 3,000 memory bears for Unity Hospice in Green Bay, and knitted stunning sweaters and countless caps and booties for newborns. She never drove a car, and walked everywhere. She was constantly on the go staying active with Silver Sneakers, People for People, and her close-knit sewing circle.
If you were fortunate enough to know Pat, you undoubtedly enjoyed a homemade chocolate-dipped eclair, fresh creme puff, or freshly baked bread. Her holiday cookies and peanut butter balls were always a welcomed treat. Neighbors over the years certainly won the jackpot!
At 88, Patricia lived a full life. She never let her children or their spouses leave without a fierce hug, letting them know she loved and was proud of each one of them. For all who knew her, she was a source of constant empathy, support, and joy. She had a unique and rare quality of making everyone feel special. She loved a good joke, and her unique raspy laughter will be sorely missed.
No formal services will be held. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held October 8, 2022 at The Village Grille Bellevue at 1390 Bellevue St. in Green Bay from 12-3PM.
