Patricia A. (Pat) Gast passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Pat was the only child of Elmer and Leone Rusch (Strauss) of Shawano, Wisconsin. Pat was a force of nature all her life, living independently until she passed. Pat was married to the love of her life Bill for 64 years and they were blessed with four children, Steven, Jeffrey, David, and Michele. Her first focus was always her family. Nothing gave Pat greater pleasure than having her extended family around the table for a holiday meal, or a good game of cards or dominos. The accomplishments of her two granddaughters were also a source of special pride for Pat. Pat worked as an executive assistant for many years, with her last company being Bemis.
Even late in her life, Pat maintained special relationships with her four cousins, whom she counted as sisters, Betsy Zernicke, Robin Schneider, Martha Van Rooy, and Diane Arneson. Close friends Marilyn Wieber, Claire Peterson and all her friends in her apartment complex were sources of great comfort and joy. She also developed deep relationships with the professionals who cared for her, driving herself to appointments, right to the end.
Pat joins Elmer and Leone, her husband, William, and son Steven in God's loving embrace. Her memory will be lovingly tended by her children Jeffrey and Luanne (Behnke) Gast, David Gast and Jeff Uhlenbrauch, and Michele Gast and Byron Glick as well as treasured grandchildren, Rebecca and Justin Wilkens, and Erin Gast, Jeffrey and Luanne's daughters.
Pat's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bellin Hospital. There are too many to name individually, but all the doctors, nurses, and CNAs, along with the hospice and palliative care teams combined to provide excellent care for Pat and support to the family. We are deeply grateful.
