Norbert J. Basten, 82, of Green Bay, beloved husband of Betty (Robak) Basten departed this life on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Autumns Promise Assisted Living.
Norb was born on July 8, 1936 in Green Bay son of the late James and Julia (Strebel) Basten. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Norb retired after many years as a Foreman for Packerland Packing. His greatest passion was spending time at their home in Chute Pond with his many friends. While up north he enjoyed everything that comes with that; pontoon rides, fishing, snowmobiling club and it's functions, and making his famous Booyah. Norb was an avid NASCAR and Green Bay Packer fan. Norb loved people and his gift of gab will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife of over 58 years Betty and their children: Julie (Jeff) Vandevelde, Jane Pluff, Joan (Alan) Pieschek, and Mark (Katie) Basten. Norb also leaves his grandchildren: Torrie, Brad, Kim, Matt (Mariah), Brooklynn, and Breanna, along with 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, Francis, Ronald, and Donald, along with a son-in-law, Gene Pluff.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 3 - 6 PM at Newcomer - Green Bay Chapel, 340 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay. A memorial service with full military honors will follow at 6 PM. Interment will be private.
