Noel Ross Safford II, also known as "Pete" passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at the age of 97. He was born November 5, 1923 in Green Bay, son of the late Noel Ross Safford Sr. and Norah Jane (Reagan) Safford.
He is survived by his 3 children: son, Noel Ross Safford III (Elizabeth), Washington DC; daughters, Margaret Jane "Peggy" (David) Boncher, Green Bay and Mary Rosalie "Molly" (Phillip) Butler, New Richmond, WI; son-in-law, Dr. Steven Sehring; grandchildren: Noel Ross IV, Emma Caroline and Elizabeth Rosalie Safford; Phillip Jerome and Patrick Ross Butler and Reagan Kathleen, Jacqueline Rose and Frederick G. "Fritz" Sehring and great-grandchildren: Rosalie, Samuel, George, Mary Ann and Margaret Butler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie Byers, his second wife, Emmy-Lou (Harney), daughter, Amy Reagan Sehring and an infant son, John Peter Safford.
Pete graduated from De Pere High School with the Class of 1942 and from Northwestern University in 1948 where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He retired from KI in 1990. Pete was a former Justice of the Peace for the Town of Allouez; President of the Green Bay Downtown Lions Club; President of the De Pere Historical Society; co-founder of the La Baye Club, Even Dozen Bridge Marathon and the Romeo Club of NEW. Pete was a member of the Dudley Birder Choral, Oneida Golf & Country Club and the National Genealogy Society.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7 PM. Visitation will continue at St. John the Evangelist Parish (413 St. John St., Green Bay), Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM with Fr. Paul DeMuth, celebrant. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
