Nancy Y. Schmechel

Nancy Young Schmechel, 66, of Green Bay, passed away on February 20, 2024. She was born on December 15, 1957 to James and Virginia (Ryan) Young in Neenah, WI. On (a hot) July 14, 1989, she married the love of her life Donald Schmechel. Nancy and Donald lived in Green Bay together, where their marriage was blessed with two sons, Nathan and Lucas. Nancy had a passion for dance, including jazz, tap and ballet. She would also spend her time traveling - with a couple of those trips going to casinos. Nancy was an animal lover especially her dogs, Sadie and Willy.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Donald of Green Bay; her two sons: Nathan of De Pere and Lucas of Green Bay; sisters: Kris Skirkanich and Jamie Finch both of Florida; sister-in-law, Janice Van Handel of Green Bay; brother-in-law, Lyle Schmechel of Lakewood; and other nieces, nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kathy Kinate; mother-in-law, Marie Schmechel; three brother-in-laws: Dale Schmechel, Mike Skirkanich, and Bill Van Handel; and niece, Debbie Wavrunek.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay. A time of sharing will be at 11:30 a.m. until the end of the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Animal Humane Society and the Cancer Society.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her niece, Martha Blaney, for her loving care for Nancy.
