Nancy S. Schlafke, 80, of De Pere, beloved wife of Bernard D. Schlafke, departed this life on Saturday, November 19, 2016 with her husband at her side.
Nancy was born on December 28, 1935 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, daughter of the late Lloyd and Genevieve (Huguet) Lang. She was a graduate and Valedictorian of St. Joseph Academy class of 1953. She received her Bachelors Degree from Rosary College in River Forest, IL. Nancy began her career as a Teacher and most recently worked as a self employed Tax Preparer. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful Girl Scout Leader who taught valuable skills to many scouts in Green Bay. Nancy was a member of the Brown County Republican Party, and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Parish. She especially enjoyed her morning swims with "The Dippers" and her pizza nights with the friends from the old neighborhood. Nancy was extremely proud to recently become a great grandmother.
Nancy will be sadly missed by her husband of 55 years Bernard, and her son, Bernie Schlafke, and daughter Susan Schlafke. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Emma (Jake Schinke) Collins, and Sam Collins, and a great grandson, Charlie Schinke along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and especially Ida Mae Brawner. Nancy is preceded in death by three infant children: Margaret, George, and Andrew Schlafke and five brothers: Lloyd, Bob, Bill, Jim, and Jack Lang.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26th from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM at St. John the Evangelist Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter. The Newcomer Funeral Home of Green Bay has been entrusted with arrangements.
