Michael E. Roberts

July 8, 1954 — December 30, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Roberts, 70 of Oconto Falls. Mike passed suddenly on December 30, 2024 of natural causes while on vacation in Avon Park, Florida.

Mike was born July 8, 1954 in Milwaukee to the late William and Eugenia (Cudahy)Roberts.

After graduating in 1973 from West Allis High School, he furthered his education in Whitewater and Oshkosh.

While in high school he played football for West Allis Central and was named All State for his outstanding performance as center and nose guard. He later played college football with the Oshkosh Titans.

While growing up, Mike spent many days in Crandon at the family cottage on Lake Metonga, boating, water skiing, scuba diving and spending time with family making many memories together. In the fall and winter months the family would go to the hunting shack to deer hunt during deer season and to just get away from the hustle and bustle of Milwaukee and enjoy the friendships they made in Crandon.

After college days he eventually moved to Oconto Falls to pursue his career in law enforcement, a profession he found pride in. Mike made his way through the ranks starting as a patrolman, Sargent, Lieutenant and finally as Chief of Police; and that position he held for 12 years and was very proud of. He was employed by the Oconto Falls Police Department for 35 years from 1979 to his retirement in 2014. Living by pride, honor and integrity.

Mike also worked as an EMT on the Oconto Falls ambulance for many years.

After living in Oconto Falls for a few years he met Alane Doney and they married in 1984. They later became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Anna. She had Dad wrapped around her finger. His priority was Anna, always wanting what was best for her and showing her off to everyone. They could be found at the Chestnut Station having coffee and Anna drinking her “little bit of root beer” often daily when she was a little girl. This ritual continued on throughout the years until the Chestnut Station no longer stood.

Mike and Anna went camping together to Cascade and Anna taught him the fine art of shopping while in that area. He would paint Anna’s nails like a girly dad would do. He taught her many things throughout the years, helping make her the person she is today. These were just a few of the many things he would do with Anna. This was a side of Mike not many people witnessed. His tough exterior was broken down by their daughter, Anna.

Mike was so proud of Anna and all the accomplishments she made throughout the years. She was his pride and joy!

Mike enjoyed deer hunting, traveling, riding his Harley, guns, watching Westerns and detective movies, camping, campfires, being outdoors, spending summers in Cascade and Oconto Falls and winters in Florida.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Anna, (Anna’s mom, Alane),brothers Gale Roberts, William (Cheryl) Roberts, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to help in any way they could. His friends in Florida who helped in securing his possessions and making it possible to get things back to Oconto Falls, especially Crystal Doney and Steve Witt for giving up their time to bring Mike’s vehicles home. Without everyone’s assistance it made the impossible, possible.

A simple thank you is not enough.
