Michael Dennis Daly

April 4, 1929 — September 15, 2021

Our dad, Michael Dennis Daly, 92, Green Bay, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

Michael was born April 4, 1929 in Zell, South Dakota to Michael and Eleanor (Lockway) Daly. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Zell, SD and after the family moved to Estelline in 1944, graduated with the class of 1947. He then attended Chillicothe Business School in Missouri.

Michael enlisted and served as Yeoman (2nd Class) in the United States Navy, stationed in New Orleans, and touring Mediterranean ports between 1951 and 1955. He later enrolled at South Dakota State University at Brookings, graduating with a B.S. in Journalism.

Michael married Audrey Okins on June 6, 1959 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lamberton MN. They started their family in St. Paul, MN before moving to Green Bay in 1963 with his job as an auditor for St. Paul Terminal Warehouse Company. In later years, he was a parks groundskeeper, an on-site apartment manager, a school bus driver with Lamers, and a crossing guard with the city of Green Bay.

Michael loved all sports from an early age - most of all, baseball. Many times, he recounted how as a young boy, he would challenge himself to emulate his favorite baseball idol. He also played basketball and track & field as a young man, and baseball and football in the Navy. Michael continued to play (softball) into his 70's, ending his career with the "Old Timers" here in the Green Bay area. He enjoyed golf and met many great friends through bowling leagues. Mike proudly bowled his first 300 game in 2000, at age 71.

Michael was devoted to his Catholic faith. He loved to attend church mass as often as possible, and over the years often served as an usher. In later years, he volunteered each week to chaperone perpetual adoration at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. His heart was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and her message at Fatima.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Eleanor Daly, sisters, Madonna King and Lorraine Steward, and brother, Timothy (Bart) Daly.

Michael is survived by his former wife Audrey and their children: Barbara (Wilbert) Grall, Timothy Daly, Kathleen Daly (Mike Gottfried), Cheryl (Andre) Rose, and Sandra Daly; six grandchildren: Tim Daly Jr., Kazuki (Lindsey) Anderson, Lindsey Koebke, Avarie Daly, Aleasha Franco, and Alex Rose. Michael will be fondly remembered by extended family in his beloved home state of South Dakota; nieces and nephews and their families who loved "Uncle Michael."

Visitation for Michael will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Oratory (211 N. Maple Street, Green Bay) from 10:00AM - 11:00AM. A High Requiem Mass will follow at 11:00AM with The Reverend Canon Antoine Boucheron officiating. Burial will be arranged with Fort Howard Memorial Park at a later date.

The Daly family extends deepest appreciation to the staff at Emerald Bay Memory Care where he resided the past year, and those with St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice who provided care and compassion in his final days when we were unable to be by his side. For this, we are forever grateful. May God Bless and protect our Healthcare workers.
