Mercedes K. Stievo, 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, March 4, 2022. She was born on October 8, 1928 to the late William and Mary (Hendricksen) Oates.
Mercedes married Robert Stievo on September 3, 1949 at East Moravian Church in Green Bay and together they shared many years of happiness until Robert's passing in July of 1989. After completing her education to receive her LPN degree, Mercedes stayed home to raise her children. In her late years, she became a volunteer for Unity Hospice. When her age no longer allowed her to spend her time volunteering, she very much enjoyed visits and attending activities of some of her great grandchildren: Max, Myla, and Maverick. A lifelong resident of Green Bay, Mercedes was an active member of West Side Moravian Church, the Forever Young Group, and New Horizons Grief Support Group.
Mercedes is survived by her four sons: Paul (Cindy) Stievo, Dan (Sue) Stievo, Jeff (Judy) Stievo, and Dave (Debi) Stievo; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Jamie, Eric, Brad, Chris, Scott, Nicole, Nathan, Jackie, Ryan, Jordi, Allison, Melissa, Ashlee, Rebecca, and Cassandra; many great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Andrea Stievo; great granddaughter, Morgan Littleton; and her step mother, Caroline Scheshi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at West Side Moravian Church (1707 S. Oneida St. Green Bay, WI 54304) from 10 am to 12 pm. A funeral ceremony will follow at 12 pm. Mercedes will be laid to rest in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. To leave an online condolence please visit www.newcomergreenbay.com.
