Melissa A. (Mackin) Griego

October 25, 1969 — June 3, 2022

Melissa Ann (Mackin) Griego, our beloved daughter, sister and friend, passed away peacefully June 3rd, 2022 at Bellin Hospital and is in the loving arms of her Creator. Born October 25, 1969, Melissa joined the family of Patrick and Marilyn Mackin as the fourth child on December 11th, 1969. The family, including Tim, Sean and Maggie moved to California in her first few years of life, then returned home to Green Bay. She was a delightful, energetic, friendly, outgoing and very caring, helpful little girl. She attended St. Jude grade school, graduated from St. Joseph Academy, and attended UWGB and NWTC.

Melissa was adventurous and loved to travel. She was in Berlin when the wall came down, and visited Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, and Machu Picchu in Peru. She was married to Danny Griego and resided in San Diego for many years, returning to Green Bay in 2014. She appreciated art and music and loved sports, camping and all things outdoors. She was proud of her Native American heritage and spirituality.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, Patrick Mackin, her stepfather, Jerry Fischer, niece, Maya Mackin, her grandparents and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Marilyn Fischer; brothers, Tim and Sean (Bonnie) Mackin and sister, Maggie (Ken Card) Mackin; stepsisters and stepbrother: Mary (Mike) Carini, Sally (Steve) Karls, Tim (Brenda Dorn) Fischer; Aunt Colleen (John) Hagen; Aunt Liz Whalen; beloved nieces and nephew; special friend, Matthew Erhardt and many other cousins and relatives.

She requested no service with cremation but welcomed prayers and happy remembrances of her. A celebration of life is planned in July with burial at Allouez cemetery. Thank you to all the family, friends, neighbors, EMTs, doctors and nurses who cared for and loved Melissa. She was greatly loved and we will miss her. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
