Mary Lou Peterson (McDaniel), passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour, WI on August 20 ,2020 at the age of 80 .
Mary is survived by her son, Scott (Cheryl) Peterson and their son Sam, and great granddaughters: Natalie and Monica and daughter, Tracy (Jack)Fischer and their children, Andre and Elliot; siblings: Dale McDaniel and Ronald McDaniel, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Peterson, son Steven Peterson, parents: William and Ruby McDaniel and siblings Bob McDaniel, Mearle McDaniel, Janet Reisner and Donald McDaniel.
Mary was born on December 15,1939 in Lansing, Michigan to William (Andy) and Ruby McDaniel. She attended Eastern High School and after graduating went through nursing school. She worked at the hospital in Lansing and then at a private practice. She married Robert Peterson on May 20, 1960. After the births of their children, they moved out of Lansing to DeWitt, Michigan and then, again, in 1973 to Pulaski, Wisconsin. For 10 years she managed the family run restaurant until she went to work for Employers Health Insurance in DePere, Wisconsin until her retirement.
Mary often told stories of growing up in Lansing and the things her family did. She enjoyed sharing how her mother and siblings would strap on roller skates to go grocery shopping. How it made the chore faster and easier. She was always trying to make work more fun and would eagerly participate in team building events or Packers spirit day at the insurance company she worked for. She was always putting others first and helping when ever she could. While helping her go through some correspondence, letters were found from several co-workers, thanking her for her help when they were new to the company. Mary was a warm and generous person who loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She will be remembered and missed greatly by those who knew her.
