Mary Irene (nee Corwin, Cumber) Nowack, age 86, of Green Bay, WI, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 21, 2024. She was born November 26, 1937 in Gladstone, MI, daughter of the late Harold and Charlotte (Micheau) Corwin.
Mary was a co-owner and operator of Ron's Bakery in Green Bay from the early 1960's to 1979. Mary earned her GED in the late 1970's from NWTC. She went on to take a fashion merchandising course at NWTC. She met the love of her life, Don Nowack, in the late 1980's. They were married on June 12, 1993 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Green Bay and celebrated 26 years of marriage before Don passed away, January 3, 2020.
Mary was a loving mother of 6 children. She wasn't afraid to try anything new or challenging! Mary was a talented seamstress and made many of her own clothes as well as her children's clothing. She also excelled at teaching herself to make many crafts. She loved music and dancing, especially from the 1950's and 1960's. She passed that love along to all of her children. Mary was an avid reader and her favorite book was Valley of Horses, which she read at least 5 times. Mary also loved to play cribbage and get together with her daughters for Bible studies. Mary and Don made several trips in their RV and became snowbirds, wintering in the South.
Above all, she had an extremely strong faith. She is home now with our Lord.
Mary is survived by her 6 children: Gwen (Roy) Rentmeester, George (Jody Williquette) Cumber, Ronda (Joe) Karbon, Dawn (Dan) Pecho, Lisa Cumber and Mary (Jeff) VanEssen; 15 grandchildren; 4 step-children: Patti (Keith) Uecker, Brian (Dyann) Nowack, Shelley (Dan) Pomplun and Jason Nowack; many great-grandchildren; her brother, Vic Corwin; sisters: Clara (Jim) Morris, Joyce (Dick) Feathers and Gloria (Dan) Zwicker and sisters-in-law, Beverly Corwin and Noreen Corwin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; brothers, Harold Jr. and Wayne and brother-in-law, Eugene Popour.
