Mary K. Nelson Charlier

December 19, 1935 — September 5, 2023

Mary Kathleen Nelson Charlier, age 87, of De Pere, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Mary was born on December 19, 1935, to Edward and Julia (Woulf) Beaudoin in New London, Wisconsin on December 19, 1935. She married William Nelson on September 1, 1956, in a 'beautiful all-day wedding'. After 34 years of marriage, Bill passed away on June 5, 1990. Later in life, Mary married Gene Charlier on January 1, 1996. There were 'always fireworks on my anniversary'. After a wonderful marriage of 12 years, Gene passed away on August 6, 2008.

Mary loved people. She made everyone she encountered feel special because she listened to them and cared about their lives. Mary loved her children and stepchildren and enjoyed having them over for dinner – there was always something a little special in the freezer and warm biscotti out of the oven! Mary was a great grandmother. She loved getting to know each of her grandchildren as individuals. She was so proud of them.

Mary is survived by her children Paul (Rose), Ann (Mike), and Tom (Mary) Nelson and her stepchildren Steve (Connie), Craig (Pam), Dennis (Linda), and Chris (Katye) Charlier; sisters Shirley Neshek and Marilyn Fazer; sixteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her brother William Beaudoin.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you for the care given to Mary by Unity Hospice and Rebekah Haven assisted living.
Mary truly appreciated all the visits, phone calls, emails, messages, and cards from her friends and family over the past few months. She decided she did not want a funeral service after her passing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation in Mary's name to Rebekah Haven, care of Sherri Stock (Nurse Manager); address 822 Grignon Street, Green Bay, WI 54301. Mary had known the staff at Rebekah Haven for 9 years and she considered them extended family.
