Mary K. Mefford

Mary K. Mefford, 100 was called to heaven to be with God and her beloved husband, Don, on June 27, 2023, in Vista, CA. She was born December 8, 1922, in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of the late William and Rose (Hade) Devlin.
On May 28, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Don, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia, IL. They moved to Springfield, IL and in 1954 were transferred to Green Bay. Mary worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay for 25 years.
After Don and Mary retired, they did a lot of traveling and eventually settled in Vista, CA.
Mary had a strong faith in God and while in Green Bay was a member of St. Jude Church and a Eucharistic Minister.
Mary loved to play cards, especially bridge. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and traveling visiting her family. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Jude Women's Club. She was also an avid Packer fan.
She was preceded in death by one brother, John, and one sister, Rosaleen. She is survived by her children Julianne (Warren) Schultz, Michael, John (Karen) James (Pat), William (special friend Mia), Cynthia (Dave) Wickman, Steven, Robert, Thomas (Brenda) along with 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Helen.
The Mefford family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the amazing love and endless support given to Mary and her family by Kelly Foothill Villa and Takara Hospice.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday July 13, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at
Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, with a Prayer Service at 6:45 pm. and then again on Friday, July 14, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 2771 Oakwood Drive, Green Bay from 10:30 am until 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Private family entombment will take place at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory, may be made to Paul's Pantry of Green Bay.
