Mary M. (Haevers) Heilmann, 92, of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, March 17th, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 23rd, 1920 in Green Bay to Philomene and Amos Haevers. On December 28th, 1946 she married Jacob H. Heilmann, Jr at St. John's Catholic Church in Green Bay. Jacob preceded Mary in death in June of 1983.
Mary Margaret, mother of ten children, was feisty and fun loving. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and rosemaling in her younger years, reading and jigsaw puzzles into her later years. She never turned down an opportunity to just get in the car and take a ride with her family.
Mary Margaret will be dearly missed by her nine surviving children ; Paul of Green Bay, Mary Matel (Stan W.) of Henderson, NV, Kurt (Kathy) of Sturgeon Bay, Lois Fischer (Bradly) of Green Bay , Peter (Maggie) of Somerset, WI, Joann Haggard (Dan) of St Germain, WI, Jon (Lisa) of Oregon, WI, Jay (Anne) of Mequon, WI, Fred (Daun) of Green Bay; daughter-in-law Sue Biemeret (Steve) of Green Bay, eighteen grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and two special friends, Helga and Mickey.
Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jacob, son, James, all her brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary Margaret wanted to live to be 100 years old and always said "isn't it wonderful to be alive"? She had a collection of Life is Good baseball caps which she wore whenever she left the house.
Mary will be cremated. A memorial service and inurnnment will be held at Allouez Catholic Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum, on April 27th, 2013, at 2:00pm.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Unity Hospice, especially Amy, for the most excellent care these past two years. We would also like to thank her caregivers from Comfort Keepers, especially Linda, who showed her the utmost compassion and friendship. Also, special thanks to Father Tim Shillcox of Lourdes Parish for his warm fellowship.
