Mary Johnson, age 68, unexpectedly passed away May 13, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Mary was born November 30, 1955, to LeRoy & Janet Brunette. Younger sister to Terry, followed by the three brother Tom, Dan, and Russ. She grew up in the Green Bay area.
She graduated NWTC as a Respiratory Therapist. For 25 years she worked at various hospitals throughout Wisconsin, finishing her career at Bellin Hospital. She worked for Lovewell & Firth Attorney assisting with Living Wills for several years.
She married her high school sweetheart Don Johnson on August 20, 1976. Together they built a family, living various places throughout Wisconsin and returned to the Green Bay area in 2009. She was a loyal and caring wife who found pleasure in being a homemaker. Together they had two children, Sarah, and Becky. Mary was a devoted and loving mother, always believing in her children’s best, and encouraging them in every endeavor.
Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, Aliza, Ashleigh, Hannah, and Samantha! She celebrated every milestone and success with gusto. She was a “fun” grandma; from planning & hosting the traditional granddaughter New Year’s Eve party, Easter Egg hider, storyteller, Christmas cookie maker, and the best cheerleader.
Mary was a no-frills woman who loved the simple and most important things, family, friends, laughter, a little silliness, good food, and travel. A woman of generosity and hospitality.
Jesus was her Savior and Lord. She practiced her faith with Resurrection Catholic Parish, Green Bay.
Mary was a much-loved niece, aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many. Her cheerful and friendly countenance endeared her to people. She was simply a kind soul who brought warmth into every sphere. She will be deeply missed and forever celebrated.
She was proceeded in death by her sister Terry Hornick. She is survived by her husband Don Johnson; two daughters Rebecca (Eric) Mullikin and Sarah (Adam) Englebert. Four granddaughters Ashleigh, Hannah, Samantha Mullikin, and Aliza Jacobs. Her parents, LeRoy & Janet Brunette, Three brothers Tom Brunette, Dan (Nora) Brunette, Russ (Kirsten) Brunette and brother-in-law Greg Hornick. Countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Family would like to thank Aurora Bay Care nurses, doctors, and staff for the exceptional care of Mary.
Gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 am to 11 am on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Resurrection Catholic, 333 Hilltop Green Bay, WI. A funeral service will be held at 11 am.
