Mary Kay (Long) Brunette, 72, of Maple Grove, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in Primghar, IA on Dec. 24, 1943 to Lloyd and Elaine (Halbach) Long.
Mary Kay married Edward J. Brunette, Dec. 29, 1962 in Green Bay and together they shared 54 loving years of marriage and raised 7 children. Together they founded and led Maple Grove Countryside 4-H club for over 25 years. She was a training coordinator for 4-H Shooting Sports. They also taught Hunter's Education for about 35 years and were past presidents of W.H.E.I.A. She was also a member of the Shawano County Homemakers and the Bay Area Friends of the NRA. The last 20+ years she worked at Eileen's Candies.
Mary had a loving and giving heart and her home was a welcoming shelter for friends and family alike. Being a wife, mother & grandmother was her greatest joy but she enjoyed gardening, plastic canvas, canning, reading and spending time with Ed at their cabin.
Mary is survived by her husband, Edward J. Brunette; her children: Kathryn (Ed) Kabara, Jennifer Brunette, Nanette (Larry) Aprill, Matthew (Mary) Brunette, Amanda Brunette, Forrest Brunette, Mary Heather (Drew) Champagne; her 19 grandchildren: Dr. Edward Alan(LaVera), Wyatt, Jedidiah, Noah and Mercedes Kabara, Lee, Nate, Joshua, Chelsea and Hannah Aprill, Shelby and Sydnee Brunette, Magenta Brunette, Saray, Alona, Willow and Woodson Brunette and Noelle and Elijah Champagne; 4 great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Karsen, Conner and Dominic; her father, Lloyd Long; her siblings: Martha Bartels, Steven (Geri) Long and Susan Long and in-laws: Darrell (Marlene) Brunette, Doug (Patricia) Brunette, Sandy Potthier, Gary Brunette and Carol Petasek.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her mother, Elaine (Halbach) Long; her father and mother-in-law, Edward W. and Dorothy (Arcand) Brunette; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Pamela Brunette, Brent Bartels, Judy Brunette and Alan Marcks.
Visitation will be held at ASSUMPTION BVM PARISH (109 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, WI), Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 from 9 to 10:45 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM with Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. officiating.
