Martha Marie Boland, loving mother, sister, and friend passed away suddenly in her Green Bay home on October 21st at the age of 64. Martha was Born on August 7th, 1955 in Chicago, IL to John and Leone Boland. The youngest of five children, Martha adored and looked up to her siblings John, Patricia, Florence, and Michael.
Martha struggled with alcoholism in her early life but made the decision to take her life back from alcohol on May 28th, 1981. She remained sober the rest of her life, 38 years. On May 31st, 1986 she gave birth to her daughter Beverly. Martha was an amazing, devoted, and loving mother who taught kindness and compassion not just with her words but by example through her actions.
Martha loved reading, keeping up with current events and politics, and animals. She truly believed that there was more good than bad in this world and that one person could change the world, even if only in a small way, for the better.
Martha was a survivor who even in the darkest times never lost her wit, wonderful sense of humor, or belief in the goodness of people. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with her love of animals and desire to make the world a little bit better the family is asking for donations to go to the ASPCA in her memory.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral (140 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, WI 54301) November 9th from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. To leave an online condolence for Martha's family please click the "Share" button below.
