Mark J. Lu Maye, age 67, of Kewaunee, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 after his struggle with health issues the last few years. He was born in Algoma, WI on February 1, 1957, to the late Lawrence Lu Maye and Joyce (Raasch) (Lu Maye) Berndt. Mark attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Kewaunee High School, Class of 1975, where wrestling was his favorite sport.
Mark was a hard worker and had great work ethics. He had various jobs during his life, which included driving different types of trucks, from semi to milk trucks and delivery trucks. He enjoyed making and installing cabinets, he hung wallpaper, and held certifications and worked as a welder/fabricator.
As an avid outdoorsman, Mark enjoyed bow and gun hunting, working at his loading bench, fishing from his boat on small lakes and fly fishing. He loved the peace and serenity of nature. His hobbies included: watching Packer games while enjoying a plate of homemade nachos, watching Nascar races, trapshooting, woodworking, farrier skills in his early years, working on his own cars, listening to country music, and watching old westerns. Mark also enjoyed going to Bear Paw - Boy Scout camp with his sons.
Mark is survived by his children: Elliot Lu Maye, Rhys Lu Maye, and Evan Lu Maye; grandchildren: Ethan and Aubree Lu Maye; siblings: Lynne (Steve) Stillings, Dan (Cyndi) Lu Maye, and half-sister Lisa (Jerry) (Berndt) Johnson. There are many extended and blended family members, including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Mark always kept a special place in his heart for his oldest children who are not mentioned above.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer-Green Bay Chapel (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay WI) on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A memorial service will follow at 1 PM. Mark will be laid to rest in St. Hedwig Cemetery, East Krok, WI (Krok Rd and County B).
