Marion S. King, age 87, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with family at her side. She was born August 18, 1935 in Edgar, WI, the eldest child of the late Alfred and Olive (Braun) Berg.
Marion attended St. John Catholic School in Edgar, WI. She adored her job at the IGA in Edgar, WI. She married Alexander "Alex" King, August 20, 1956. They shared 61 years of marriage before Alex passed away in 2017. Her faith was very important to her and she was a devoted member of St. Patrick Parish, Green Bay, WI.
Marion enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, playing BINGO and dominoes and cooking meals for her family. Games of Sheephead with family and friends was a favorite. She was an avid shopper at rummage sales and the Shawano Flea Market, where she also repaired her rummaged items and sold them for a profit. Marion ran a paper route for the Press Gazette for many years, carting her papers in her wagon. She was a hard worker and cherished her family.
Marion is survived by her 6 children, daughters: Diane (King) Baeten, Marcia (Tim) Lichtenwald, Debra (King) Abate, and sons: Gary (Julie Krejcarek) King, Allen King and David (Loretta) King; 12 grandchildren: Ryan (Judy) and Jason (Manola) Baeten, Cara (Danny) Skarsten, Justin and Jacob (Maggie) Miller and Dusty Abate, Brittney (Nick Curran) King and Heidi (Jeff) Crooks, Jenna (Jared) Kiernicki and Mitchell (Moriah) King, and Kristine (Jonathan) Rose and Steffanie King; 17 great-grandchildren and 5 siblings: brothers: Len (Judy), Mike (Beth) and Paul (Debi) Berg and 2 sisters, Ruth Rogan and Pauline (Jerry) Krautkramer. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Pat Berg, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alex King; a brother, Charlie, a sister, Bea Timm and a brother-in-law, Chuck Rogan.
Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church (211 N. Maple St., Green Bay), Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 11 AM until 12 NOON. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 NOON. Entombment will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
