Marilyn Marie Holtien, age 75, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Marilyn was being visited and comforted by family members at Aurora Baycare hospital in Green Bay Hospital at the time of her passing.
Marilyn was born in Iron Mountain, MI, February 1, 1940 to the late Clyde and Jeanette Kirby. After graduating from Kingsford High School in 1958, Marilyn married Larry Holtien , August 8, 1959 at Sacred Heart church in Aurora, WI. She and Larry moved to Green Bay, WI in June 2000 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Marilyn was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She enjoyed working in various retail jobs over the years including People's Supermarket, Sears and Hallmark in Iron Mountain and JoAnn Fabrics in Green Bay. She was a wonderful cook and hosted countless holiday dinners. She also enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch and knitting, road trips, going to the movies and playing cards. She always looked forward to the family's annual weekend at "Camp One" in Dunbar, WI. She lived for her family and doted on her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her spouse of 56 years, Larry, and their three children: Christine (Darryl) Beers, David (Rebecca) Holtien and Traci (Jim) Watson, plus seven grandchildren: Danielle Schultz, Henry & Vivienne Holtien, Marie, Jill & Kaitlyn Watson and Melissa Beers. She is also survived by her brother Jerry (Alice) Kirby, brother Don (Linda) Kirby and sister Margie (Guy) Paquin. Marilyn will also be greatly missed by her best friend Judie Cavalieri, dear friends Carolyn Tomasi & Caroline Arndt, and many others.
She was preceded in death by her brother George Kirby in 1985.
Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay), Monday, November 2, 2015 from 4 to 6:45 PM. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Center or to the charity of your choice.
Marilyn's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone for their prayers, kindness and compassion during the past year. They would like also to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Aurora Baycare hospital for their excellent care during her time there.
