Marilyn Margaret Hennig

December 9, 1931 — November 15, 2023

What can I say? You were a grand lady who had a spectacular life! It all started on the south side of Chicago (yes, she was a White Sox and Bears fan) almost 92 years ago. She lost her dad at a young age and went to work and took care of her mom, Ida, until she passed at the age of almost 102. She worked for United Airlines when I was a kid, and flew all over the world. We'd ask Aunt Ida "Where's Mare?" Oh, she's in Norway or Paris or San Fran for the weekend. Or she flew to New York with a friend to have lunch. Not a bad life, hey? She had lots of endearing friends from the Chicago land area and was a social butterfly so to speak! When she was younger there was skiing and bowling. Later on in life, there were card clubs and always belonging to a choir. She was passionate about music and theater.

About 10 years ago, she decided to come and live with us at Lulu Lake. We've had lots of adventures in these last three years. She was closer to our kids and grandkids and got to see them grow up. That included watching baseball games, going to school concerts, and being able to attend everything that went on up here. She was a "good buddy" to our youngest grandson, Chance. They shared games, puzzles, cards, Pie in the Face, cookie decorating and all sorts of shenanigans! She also had a bond with her "Special Person", Belle. She looked forward to the visits and snuggles with her. It brought her great joy. Our daughter-in-law, Sue, was her constant aide and companion when she moved to Meadowbrook. Checking on her daily and taking her to numerous appointments. We are so thankful for her help.

Another important part of Mare's life was her faith. She was always a church and choir member, and since moving here was a member of Grace Lutheran. She served on the Council as a secretary for some time. She was a professional secretary her whole life and took her notes in shorthand! She became a beloved member of our congregation and made many friends.

She became a part of our family and our circle of friends. She was a lovely, charming, silly, wonderful human being and we loved her and will miss her! But just a few days before she left us, I told her she better be ready for the party! When she gets to heaven all the lovely ladies (our aunts and cousins who have preceded us) will be getting their hair and nails done, picking out their best outfits, jewelry, and high heels to get ready to meet her at Jesus' throne! And as one of my favorite songs says, "I'm jealous of the Angels around the Throne Tonight!" But wait! There will be another party in the future when we will all be together again and celebrating our Savior! See ya then! Love you!

There will be a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 So. Main St. in Oconto Falls on December 9, 2023 at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Wear your party gear! It would have been her 92nd birthday! Lunch will be served.
