Marie G. Mayer (Brennan), age 73, went home to her Savior on August 24th, 2024 in Payson, Arizona. She was born on November 11th, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Hollyce and Clayton Peck. Marie was born and raised in Wisconsin, but moved to Arizona in 2016.
Some of Marie’s simple pleasures included going on walks, gardening, painting, puzzles, Peanut M&Ms (not the blue ones) and watching the humming birds. She was very young at heart, and had a goofy, charismatic nature. She would make a friend wherever she went. She was well known for her molasses and chocolate chip cookies and homemade caramel corn. Some of her most cherished memories were those spent with her family.
On November 2nd, 1968, Marie married Stephen Brennan. They were blessed with 5 children. On Christmas Day in 2019, the 51 years they shared together were cut short by Stephen’s passing.
Marie is survived by her husband of 2 years, George Mayer, whom she married March 28th, 2022. She is also survived by her loving children: Melissa (Laurence) Dates, Joel (Cindy) Brennan, Tim Harper, Jess (Terri) Mayer, Shelly (Derek) Mayer; 10 grandchildren: Jirhod, Faythe, Lizayah, Andrew, Aaron, Kyle, Connor, Kaylee, Jenna, Jayden; siblings: Audrey (Mark) Kolosovsky, Marlene (Robert) Mostek, Dave (Laura) Peck, and Sue Peck; sister-in-law’s Stefani (Monte) Bowling and Sheryl (John) Pack. Marie is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Roland and Bette Brennan, her late husband Steve Brennan, her children Deanna Harper, Robert Brennan, and Aaron Brennan; and her brother Steve Peck. She is elated to be reunited with her daughter, Deanna, and the rest of the gang.
Marie had a strong faith in Jesus and was a member Mountain Bible Church in Payson, Arizona. She was proud to pass along her faith in her family. Her desire would be for those who loved her to find a personal relationship with Jesus.
Per her wishes, Marie’s family will hold a private Celebration of Life in May 2025.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team at Compassus Hospice for their care and compassion.
