Marie E. Vertz, 95, Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, after a short illness.
She was born on July 6, 1918, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, to the late Albert & Mamie Staats.
Marie was a graduate of Sevastopol High School.
She worked at the Alpine in Egg Harbor. She later worked for Gold Bond Ice Cream up until her retirement in 1989.
Marie married Clarence Vertz in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She liked working in her flower gardens, crocheting, and knitting.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Albert) Swiecichowski; grandchildren, Cynthia (Paul) Smith, Amboy, IL, James (Laura) Wolter, Lena, and David (Leanne) Wolter, Green Bay; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Aprille, Wayland, Autumn and step-grandchildren, Matt, Zach, Alyssa, Meghan, Nathan, Brian, and Nichole; step-grandchildren, Kim (Randy) McArdle, Sheri (Mark) Riha and Debbie (Paul) Dahkle; and two great-grandchildren, Ashantianna and Nivajiah.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Harold, Ernest, Lloyd, and Earl Sr. Staats.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay. *(Monroe Ave., is closed. Access to funeral home is available off Madison St., One Block West of Monroe Ave.,)* A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
The family is grateful for the care provided to Marie from Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice.
