After a journey of almost 89 years, Marie DeGrave went to be reunited with her husband Joe DeGrave on Saturday, January 25, 2014, surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 1, 1925, in the town of Humboldt, WI, to the late John & Mary (Lathauer) Vander Kelen.
Marie married Joe DeGrave on November 24, 1945, at SS. Peter & Paul Parish. Joe preceded her in death on June 8, 2002.
Marie loved to bake, cook and especially caring for the flowers in her gardens. She enjoyed watching Badgers and Packers football games. To Marie, her family was her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Jim (special friend Ellen Banaszynski) DeGrave, Lee (Pat) DeGrave, Jo (Bob) Lamal, Dennis (fiancé Cheryl Zehms) DeGrave and Randy (Nancy) DeGrave; grandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Whetung, Tammy DeGrave, Jenny DeGrave, Chad (Jessica) DeGrave, Bobbi (Nate) Nowaczyk, Dusty (Ashley) Lamal, Zoe (Eric) Harkoff, Jennifer (Aaron) Mullen, Roberta Gaithier, Casey DeGrave, Daniel (Jamie) DeGrave, Kaley, Holden and Connor DeGrave; great grandchildren, Loren, Tyler, Alayna, Paige, Ashlee, Hunter, Brock, Valerie, Grace, Isaiah, Wyatt, Tristan, Kane, Makayla, and Michael; brother, Sal Vander Kelen; sisters-in-law, Eloise Vander Kelen, Darlene Parma, Angie DeGrave, and Joanne DeGrave.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Reianna DeGrave; siblings, John, Walter, Bill, Elmer, Don, Joseph, Angeline, and Margaret; and two infant children.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, January 31, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay. A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff & Care Givers of Unity Hospice, GranCare, St. Vincent ER, Dr. Chad Zehms, Dr. Anne Frea for all the compassion shown to Marie.
