Margaret J. Marshalek, age 88, of Green Bay, passed away on May 27, 2024.
She was born on December 21, 1935 to Peter and Nina Marshalek in Bessemer, Michigan. Margaret was involved in a variety of clubs and organizations throughout high school including; Girls Rifle Team, National Thespian Society, and Homecoming Queen, all while graduating from A.D. Johnson High School with Honors with the Class of 1953.
On March 17, 1956, she married Floyd Laamanen. The couple was blessed with four children.
She was an excellent stenographer, typist, and legal secretary, starting her career in high school at the County Court House. While Floyd served in the US Army, Margaret worked in the offices at Fort Bragg Army Base. She later worked in other office settings before beginning at Brown County Social Services, where she worked until her retirement.
Margaret was involved in many clubs and hobbies including; sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching, reading, puzzles, and she was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dogs; Lily, Sophie, Molly, and Charlie.
Margaret is survived by her 3 daughters; Laura (Randy) Thyes, Susan Laamanen, and Julie (Dr. Nollie) Swynnerton, 2 grandchildren; Joseph Olson, and Jennifer (Brian) Stegman, 6 great-grandchildren, and her brother; James Marshalek. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Michael Laamanen.
A Private Memorial Service to be held at a later date. With her Final Resting Place to be Hill Crest Cemetery in Bessemer, Michigan.
