Margaret A. "Peggy" Joppe, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born January 18, 1927 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Peter and Minnie (LaudenKlaus) Hansen and was a 1945 graduate of Green Bay West High School.
Margaret married Robert Joppe, August 15, 1953 in Green Bay and shared 62 years of marriage with him before he passed away, January 23, 2016. She was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was active in many clubs and groups at the church, including preparing and serving funeral luncheons, sewing for the Mission sewing and the Lois Circle. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family at the cottage on Kelly Lake and playing sheephead "shastkop." She loved to pick cherries with the family in Door County and picking wild blackberries and asparagus in ditches up north. Her most important job was being a mom and a grandma and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones.
Margaret is survived by her 4 children: Matt (Laura McNamara), Ann, Mark (Linda) and Jean Joppe (Alicia Guerrero); 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Melissa, Lauren, Andrew, Emily and Ellen Joppe; a great-grandson, Mason Joppe; sister-in-law, Carma Hansen; a niece, Sally (Kevin) Brick and Susan Joppe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; 4 brothers: Robert, Donald, Richard and John Hansen and 2 sisters, Marion and Helen Hansen.
Visitation will be held at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH (312 S. Madison St., Green Bay), Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 9 to 10:45 AM. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Alzheimer's Association in Margaret's name are appreciated.
