Marcella "Marcie" Kaye, 91, of Green Bay, gained her wings and returned home to our Lord and Savior on August 3, 2024; she went peacefully, at home surrounded by family. She was born on April 15, 1933 to Michael and Laura (DeGrand) Mertens of Sugar Bush. On September 3, 1955, she married Richard V. Kaye.
Marcie liked to do word searches, puzzles, play computer games, and learned to play marbles AKA tock and cribbage with family members. She loved going to races until it got hard with her mobility. She watched NASCAR on television, and never missed a Packer game. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family. Marcie was a bartender for many years at several taverns in Green Bay.
She will be remembered for many thing: knit slippers and hanging towels, her potato salad in the summer, her stuffing around the holidays, and she made the best bologna spread. Marcie was a strong and independent woman that lived a long life at home until the end. She was a breast cancer survivor and had some medical issues that didn't keep her down.
Marcie is survived by her loving children: Tina Spriggs, Mark (Shelley) Kaye, and Daniel (Tammy) Kaye; Carol (Ken) Becks, Lori Burzinski, Diane Guhl, and Cindy (Bill) Soucek; one sister, Rosella Fayas; two brothers: Gene (Debbie) Mertens and Marvin (Charlotte) Mertens; and many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, further survived by many nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard V. Kaye, daughter, Darlene Rouse, one son, Richard A. Kaye, four sisters, and two brothers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 10:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave. Green Bay, funeral services continue at 12:30 pm with Bishop Ryan Abbott, officiating. Private burial will be at the Nicolet Memorial Gardens, with her husband. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to cancer research and hospice.
