Mae Alice "Pat" Belongia, age 93, passed away on November 19, 2021, with family by her bedside. Pat was born in Oconto, WI on March 2, 1928, to George and Laurene (Donlevy) Petersen. After graduation from Oconto High School 1946, she wed William Belongia on October 7, 1950, and shortly thereafter moved to Green Bay and began a family. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She loved baking and was known to fix sweet treats for the kids in her neighborhood and for co-workers at Sure Way where she worked for over 35 years. She was known as "Grams" to the young Sure Way employees she encountered there and still was in touch with many of them until her passing.
Pat's greatest passion was taking care of people of all ages. This passion started at the age of 14 and continued throughout her life. She absolutely loved spending time with her two grandchildren and making special memories with them. Pat treasured her grandchildrens' friends and her "adopted" grandchildren (Tyler, Kate, and Sadie) for they were all dear to her heart. Pat also was an avid reader and often would say, "You're never alone or bored when you have an enjoyable book to read." She loved picking strawberries in the summer and making her signature brown sugar coffee cake for all of her "kids." She valued her time with family and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, William and her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Mulvey of Moline, IL. She is survived by her children: Michael (Pamela) of Vero Beach, FL, Barbara (Dave) Duffek and James (Susan) of Green Bay. She had two grandchildren, Casey (Megan) of Jacksonville, FL and Katie who resides in Green Bay. Pat is also survived by her Goddaughter and dear friend, Sue (Susie) LaViolette LeTourneau and her special friends, Kathy Rolling and Lisa Dougherty.
